JOB VACANCIES - VETA.

Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) is an autonomous Government Agency established by the Act of Parliament No. 1 of 1994. VETA is responsible for regulating, coordinating, financing and providing Vocational Education and Training in Tanzania. VETA is an equal opportunity organization.
The Authority is looking for qualified, competent, dynamic and committed Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions:
1.0     PROJECT MANAGER – (1 position)
Reports to Director of labour Market, Research &Development
Job purpose
To effectively and efficiently plan, organize and monitor the construction and rehabilitation projects of the Authority buildings and Infrastructure by providing technical support as per set standards and regulations to ensure the quality and cost control of the projects and achieve VETA objectives.
  1. CRITICAL RESULT AREA:
i.  Monitoring effectively the construction and rehabilitation projects.
ii. Effective cost control on project implementation as per the project cost estimates.
iii.To ensure cost effectiveness on project implementation
iv. Monitor proper acquisition and lease of authority properties abiding to VET Policy.
  1.           JOB CONTEXT:
This is a managerial post accountable to the Director of Labour Market, Research and Development to co-ordinate and Harmonise project implementation.
  1.           SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL BREADTH
The post entails integration of technical abilities, economic and managerial to enable effective co-ordination of the project implementation.
2.0     REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
i.  Minimum Bachelor degree in Project Management or Bachelor degree in Engineering or  Economics/Financial Management with post qualification in project management.
ii.  A minimum of 6 years working experience in supervising big and diverse project both locally and externally funded in a reputable organization.
iii. Ability to motivate, plan, guide, direct and evaluate people and activities.
iv. Must be able to manage multiple projects.
v.  Proactive and ability to work independently and provide direction in a deadline oriented environment.
vi.  Concise and positive communicator.
vii. Innovative with a progressive style and approachable attitude with the ability to mediate and problem solve.
viii. Strong professional knowledge in all aspects of organizational planning is required.
ix. Knowledge of computer software programs related to project management and others may include Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Database management.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
·         Coordinate and facilitate delivery of project objectives.
·         Provide direction and leads the projects activities and staff.
·         Prepare and/or review reports and plans, make recommendations, provide information on projects matters.
·         Track progress and review project tasks to make certain deadlines are met appropriately.
            ·         Proactively communicate project status, issues and risks to management.
  2.0        Office Management Secretary (2) Positions (Re-advertised)
a) Job purpose
To effectively and efficiently provide secretarial and office management services to departmental head and advice the senior personal secretaries and personal secretaries on Secretarial duties using secretarial equipment and Ethical codes of conduct in order to facilitate implementation of departmental functions.
b) Minimum Qualification and experience required
Direct Entry
Ø Holder of Diploma in Secretarial Management plus Short hand and Hati mkato
Ø At least 3 (three) years in the position of Senior Personal Secretary plus solid work experience, at least grade B.
c) Attitudes and Competencies Required
Ø Use of ICT equipments
Ø Able to write presentable report by Shorthand/Hatimkato.
Ø Fluent in English and Kiswahili
Ø Ability to use all four signs of Arithmetic 
d) Main Duties/Tasks:
2.  To maintain records of incoming and outgoing correspondences and files while maintaining confidentiality using registers of direct communications with the concerned to facilitate departmental activities and keeping track of file movement.
4.To arrange and maintain record of events including appointments, meetings, visiting schedules by keeping and updated diary of events of facilitate working schedule of the department.

6. To participate in budget preparation by providing inputs of measurements in order to facilitate preparation of Departmental budget. 

7. To timely rise order of office requirements using requisition forms to ensure adequate office supplies to the Department.
8.To arrange and coordinate meetings by providing meeting notification to members and recording proceedings during the meeting for record keeping.
9.To attend any other duties related to his/her job as may be assigned by his/her superior from time to time.
3.0      Location/Duty Station:   Head Office -    Dar es Salaam
