Chanzo cha maji cha chemichemi ya Ikorongo ambacho ni cha asili kipo kilometa 13.2 kutoka Mpanda mjini, mkoani Katavi. Chanzo hiki cha maji kinazungukwa na miti na uoto wa asili unaolinda maji hayo yawe safi na salama kwa matumizi ya binadamu.

Mhandisi wa Maji wa Mkoa wa Katavi Magdalena Mkeremi anasema chanzo hiki cha maji ni chemichemi yenye maji masafi yasiyokauka hata wakati wa kiangazi.

Chanzo hiki kina uwezo wa kuzalisha zaidi ya lita milioni sita kwa siku.

Mradi wa maji wa Mji wa Mpanda ni wa gharama nafuu kwa sababu hautumii pampu ya aina yoyote bali maji husambazwa kwa njia ya mserereko (gravity).

Bomba kubwa la maji la inchi kumi limelazwa kutoka kwenye chanzo na kupelekwa Kazima kwenye tanki kubwa la ujazo wa lita milioni moja ambalo limejengwa eneo la kilometa 13 kutoka kwenye chanzo cha maji.  Vile vile  maji kutoka kwenye tanki hilo na kwenda mjini na katika mitaa au vijiji pia hutumia mserereko hivyo, kurahisisha gharama zake.

Timu ya ukaguzi ikitazama barabara ya kutua na kurukia ndege katika uwanja wa ndege wa Mpanda.

Serikali imekamilisha ukarabati na upanuzi wa uwanja wa ndege wa Mpanda, mkoa wa Katavi na hivyo kuufanya uwe wa kiwango kizuri tayari kwa kutumika kwa ndege za binafsi na biashara.

Meneja wa Uwanja wa Ndege wa Mpanda, Bw Seneti Lyatuu alisema uwanja huo umeboreshwa na hivyo, unaweza kutumika kutua na kuruka ndege za kiwango cha kati na hata zile ndege kubwa zinaweza kutua kwa dharura.

Aliiambia timu ya ukaguzi wa miradi ya maendeleo kutoa Ofisi ya Rais, Tume ya Mipango iliyotembelea uwanja huo mwishoni mwa wiki kuwa uwanja huo umeongeza idadi ya wasafiri mara dufu kutokana na ukarabati na upanuzi uliofanyika.

Meneja wa Uwanja huo alisema idadi ya abiria imeongezeka kutoka abiria 285 mwaka 2009 hadi 2,390 mwaka 2013/14.

Bw. Lyatuu alisema kuwa uwanja huo umekarabatiwa na barabara ya kuruka na kutua ndege imerefushwa kwa kiwango cha lami kutoka urefu wa mita 1,500 na upana wa mita 30 hadi kufikia urefu wa mita 1,820 na upana wa mita 30.

• Implements and supervises construction of approved distribution lines extension to ensure that more customers are connected as per targets.
• Implements distribution system maintenance plans and supervises all maintenance works to ensure power reliability and distribution losses reduction.
• Implement maintenance of distribution substations to ensure reliability of supply.
• Proposes preventive maintenance plans to improve distribution system performance.
• Monitors and controls the activities of members of section to ensure the most effective utilization of resources.
• Any other official duties as may be assigned by the principal engineer or senior engineer.
