The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS)
announces its first scientific conference that will be organized with support
from Sida and other development partners. We welcome all researchers, local and international,
working in various areas of health to share their research findings with
other stake holders in this conference.
The Conference will be held at Kunduchi Beach Hotel, Dar es Salaam on 2nd – 4th May, 2013.
Conference Theme: Health Research Towards Poverty Alleviation.
Under this
theme, there are four sub-themes:
A. Translating Health Research Findings into Policy and
Practices
i. Best practices in prevention of
communicable diseases (primary, secondary and tertiary)
ii. Best practices in prevention of non-communicable diseases (primary secondary and tertiary) iii. Best practices from health systems and policy study findings (quality of health care: affordability, equity and accessibility) iv. Innovations in health interventions
v. Complementary and
Alternative approaches in healing practices (traditional medicine and
nutraceuticals, probiotics)
B. Progress in addressing Health Related Millennium Development
Goals
i. MD Goal 4: Child morbidity
and mortality
ii. MD Goal 5: Maternal Health
iii. MD Goal 6: HIV/AIDS
iv. MD Goal 7: Environmental
sustainability
v. Complementary and Alternative
approaches in healing practices (traditional medicine and nutraceuticals,
probiotics)
C. Emerging Major Health Challenges
i. Lifestyle related diseases
ii. Various forms of violence
and health outcomes.
iii. Injuries and Accidents
iv. Vaccines for preventable
diseases (new development, coverage, preparedness, barriers and adverse
reactions)
v. Conflicts and challenges
D. Responding to the Crisis on Human Resource for Health
i. Training (pre and post service)
to meet health needs
ii. Opportunities and
challenges in the allocation of human resource for health
iii. Task shifting and task sharing
initiatives; case studies and best practices and challenges
Note: In addition to vibrant scientific presentations, there will be exhibitions on new and innovative products, devices and equipment for diagnosis, management and prevention of diseases.
