2014 Commonwealth Scholarships for Developing Commonwealth Countries’ Students in UK.


UK Department for International Development (DFID) offers Commonwealth Scholarships for developing countries’ students for pursuing Master’s, PhD and split-site (PhD) degree level at UK Universities. Approximately 300 scholarships are awarded each year. The CSC invites around three times more nominations than scholarships available – therefore, nominated candidates are not guaranteed to get a scholarship. There are no quotas for scholarships for any individual country. The application deadline for these Commonwealth Scholarships is 3rd December 2013.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided in all subject areas offered at UK universities, although the CSC’s selection criteria give priority to applications that demonstrate strong relevance to development.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Master’s, PhD, and split-site (PhD) degree level at UK Universities.

-Be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British protected persons

-Be available to commence their academic studies in the United Kingdom by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2014

-For awards enhance clinical skills in the fields of medicine and dentistry, have qualified as a doctor or dentist between 1 October 2004 and 30 September 2009.

ISS Scholarship/Hardship Fund for MA Program in Development Studies, Netherlands 2014/15.


International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) is providing financial support to students through its two fund i.e. ISS Scholarship Fund for Excellent Students and ISS Hardship Fund. Both fund are open for international and dutch students for pursuing MA program in Development Studies. ISS Scholarship Fund is awarding a total of 20 scholarships covering 40% of the tuition fee while ISS Hardship Fund provides a fee discount of up to 30% of the tuition fee. For applying these scholarships, the Applicants should send in their request to the ISS student office before 15 June 2014.

IBM PhD Fellowships for International Students, 2014/15.

IBM annually awards PhD fellowships to exceptional PhD students who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. Fellowships are awarded worldwide to the students of all nationalities. Fellows are awarded a stipend for one academic year. Fellows are strongly encouraged to participate in at least one internship at IBM while completing their studies. Students must be nominated by a doctoral faculty member and enrolled full-time in a college or university PhD program, to be eligible for the fellowship. Application deadline is October 29, 2013.
Study Subject (s): Fellowships are awarded in those fields that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. These include: computer science and engineering (including cyber security, cloud, and mobile computing), electrical and mechanical engineering, physical sciences (including chemistry, material sciences, and physics), mathematical sciences (including analytics of massive scale data with uncertainty, operations research, and optimization), public sector and business sciences (including urban policy and analytics, social technologies, learning systems and cognitive computing), and service science, management, and engineering (SSME). Additionally, IBM pays special attention to an array of focus areas.
Course Level: Fellowships are offered for pursuing PhD degree.

Eligibility: Students must be nominated by a doctoral faculty member and enrolled full-time in a college or university Ph.D. program. The faculty member is encouraged to contact an IBM colleague prior to submitting the nomination to assure mutual interest. Students from Europe and Russia may be nominated in their first year of study in their doctoral program. Outside of Europe and Russia, students must have completed at least one year of study in their doctoral program at the time of their nomination. Students from U.S. embargoed countries are not eligible for the program. Award Recipients will be selected based on their overall potential for research excellence, the degree to which their technical interests align with those of IBM, and their academic progress to-date, as evidenced by publications and endorsements from their faculty advisor and department head. While students may accept other supplemental fellowships, to be eligible for the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award they may not accept a major award in addition to the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship.
